Benchmarking Questionnaire on Communication Financing
Hosted by ICD - INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION DIRECTORATE
Introduction
The African Union Commission (AUC), through its Information and Communication Directorate (ICD), is carrying out a benchmarking exercise with peer intergovernmental and multilateral institutions to assess how communication functions are financed. The exercise supports the implementation of Agenda 2063’s Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan (2024–2033), which places African ownership at its core. Strong communication is central to building this ownership, connecting with citizens, and positioning Agenda 2063 as a people-cantered blueprint for Africa’s development.
This initiative was mandated by the 2024 Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Communication and ICT, which emphasized the importance of well-resourced and coordinated communication in advancing AU priorities, strengthening trust, and ensuring that the AU’s vision reaches citizens, Member States, and global partners.
Your institution’s participation is essential. The information shared will inform AU budget planning for communications and contribute to developing sustainable and inclusive models.
Note: This questionnaire is intended for Senior Communication Officers, Managers, Heads of Division/Section, Directors of Communication, or other relevant budget holders. Approximate figures or qualitative insights may be provided where exact data is unavailable.
