The African Youth Charter (AYC), adopted in 2006, is a continental legal framework that protects, promotes, and empowers young people across 55 African Union (AU) Member States. It enshrines the rights, duties, and freedoms of young Africans and serves as a policy blueprint for youth empowerment and development at a continental, regional, and national levels across Africa.
As we approach its 20th anniversary in 2026, it is imperative to reflect on its impact, relevance, and areas for improvement to better align with the current realities and aspirations of African youth.
This survey is, therefore, designed to gather your inputs on the provisions of the African Youth Charter on key areas such as education, health and well-being, employment, governance, digital innovation, and youth participation. Your contribution is crucial in shaping a future and youth-centered charter that will influence policies addressing African youth issues.
Join the movement towards a brighter future for Africa’s youth and make your voice heard!
